Defend the Ballot — 2026
A coordinated multi-state advocacy campaign responding to the wave of voter restriction legislation introduced since January 2025. Reconstruction Action is tracking every bill, producing public-facing suppression maps (in partnership with The Reconstruction Institute), and organizing community opposition in state capitals across 12 states.
States active: Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Minnesota.
Status: 28 bills signed into law. Fighting 106 additional bills currently in committee or floor consideration. Litigation support ongoing in 7 states.

Legislative scorecards and public accountability campaigns targeting elected officials who represent majority-Black constituencies but vote against Black political, economic, and civil rights interests. Every scorecard is built on verified voting record data from The Reconstruction Institute.
Current scope: Scorecards covering 847 state legislators across 12 states. 94 officials have received formal accountability communications. 12 town hall events organized in 2026.
